CENTRE FOR FOOD SAFETY AND AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH (CEFSAR)

Press Release

April 6, 2024, Abuja, Nigeria The Center for Food Safety and Agricultural Research observes that, Africa’s greatest problems are 1) Ignorance and 2) the silence of our good men and knowledgeable population. We have believed that anything from across international waters is good for us, that’s why many of our young people scramble to relocate abroad, as a solution to economic challenges.

At our Public Health Awareness Initiative in Abuja, the FCT, CEFSAR agreed to inform you of a most devastating imminent danger that has surreptitiously crept on our people; and if we do nothing, this will lead to the most detrimental crisis we have ever faced as a Nation, Nigeria. It is the Danger of Genetically Modified Organisms as Food Crops in Nigeria. This has now found it’s way into our country through greed or procured ignorance of politicians and civil servants, who do not take time to research before appending signatures to what will become death sentences to our people, our national economy, our strategic national security and food sovereignty. .

Across the Nation, what we have termed ‘banditry, insurgency or Fulani herdsmen attacks’ might actually have been an attack on our local indigenous farms and farming systems across the Nation, just to create orchestrated food insecurity and make available food too expensive. This is probably why the government is being courted by international organizations, such as the United States Food and Drugs Administration (USFDA), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, GAVI, their army of deployed iNGOs, etc.; to deploy Genetically Modified Organisms as a solution to food scarcity.

This is NOT a solution, but rather, a strategy to colonize our food systems and make us lose our food sovereignty to foreign business concerns and their foreign governments. This is a ploy to totally eradicate our farms and age long agricultural systems that put us on the world map as one of the top exporters of agricultural produce for decades, and make us totally dependent on them because GMO seeds are sterile and we will become enslaved to the seed merchants.

Here are 10 reasons why this is the greatest and most salient onslaught on our nation, for which we call on you, to educate patriotic Nigerians, and those who are part of the government to take accelerated and urgent steps to BAN GMO foods and annul all policies that support the Importation and Cultivation of Genetically Modified Organisms as crops:

  1. Genetically Modified Seeds are sterile. You cannot replant the produce from GM crops. They are sterile and will either not grow or they will not yield. This means, you will always have to go BACK to the Government, who in turn, goes back to the patent owners of the seeds, which are International GMO seed merchants, to purchase seeds.
  2. This means we will become economic slaves to the GMO seed sellers. The day they say there is no seed, the country will go hungry. This means, our food can be weaponized to force us to accept their ways of life, e.g., LGBTQ. After all, we all saw the reports that the West refused to sell us weapons to combat Boko-Haram because we didn’t accept LGBTQ people.
  3. Major Causes of Cancer and other Modern Un-explainable Sicknesses:

Glyphosate, is the active ingredient in Round Up, the herbicide used to kill weeds on GMO Farms. There are NUMEROUS research reports that show Glyphosate is a major cause of cancer, and when used on these farms, they will not KILL the GMO crops. These GMO Crops uptake GLYPHOSATE, aside from the fact that glyphosate is also used in their process of genetic modification and when you eat from such farms, you are consuming GLYPHOSATE. In countries like America, this is why CANCER is prevalent.

  1. Genetically modified farms are weaponized to sterilize our natural farms. GMO Farms can contaminate your natural farms through cross pollination. This is one of the greatest threats to traditional and indigenous agriculture. You must not plant an organic farm with a 600-square-meter radius to reduce the chances of cross pollination. This is resulting to wastage of land resources.

  1. Environmental Disaster: Once GMOs are introduced in the environment, they cannot be recalled, which is potentially dangerous regarding issues such as out-crossing, which may originate mutant bugs or plants that may interfere with food chains and the natural functioning and biodiversity of ecosystems.
  2. Heavy use of Agro-chemicals, which contaminate our environment and biodiversity,.
  3. Carcinogenic, mutagenic and teratogenic Chemicals: Atrazine and Glyphosate are dangerous chemicals and have been implicated in these health issues.
  4. GMO systems majorly promote monocropping and encourage large scale industrial monocrop farming. This discourages small holder mixed crop farmers, who contribute more than 87% of the food supply in Nigeria. This takes jobs and money out of the hands of the majority of indigenous smallholder farmers and families, and puts them in the hands of a few external merchants. This is the greatest destroyer of jobs for a majority of our indigenous farmers and families.
  5. Patented Seeds: These seeds are the intellectual property of the foreign organizations promoting them, and our local farmers will not be allowed to reproduce them, according to the Seed Variety Act of 2021.
  6. Strategic National Security: This is a strategy against our national security; using food and economic tools to wage war against our nation. In this case, food has been weaponized as a biotechnological weapon of population reduction, economic takeover, and the financial gain of Big Pharma and their foreign governments, who are the beneficiaries of the health issues our people will face as they consume GMOs (check the cost of managing cancer, hypertension, diabetes, etc.).

From the above information, therefore, CEFSAR strongly urges everyone to be patriotic and look at these facts critically; as we reject this strategic but subtle takeover of our national food supply, food sovereignty, our national public health budget, and economic sustainability by international transvandals who have tried this in many other countries but got rejected.

Worthy of note is that cultivating GMO is reportedly an act of terrorism in Russia.

Thank you.
