The Federal Government intends to help 133 million Nigerians escape poverty, according to Dr. Betta Edu, the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
Edu revealed this to the heads of the ministry’s agencies on Monday after the start of the new work week.
She claims that the FG can only accomplish this by implementing various interventions and measures to fight poverty.
“What is most important is that we will keep our focus on lifting 133 million Nigerians out of poverty.
“We can do it in phases, a step at a time, because with determination and strong will, nothing is impossible”, she said.
During his presidency, the former president Muhammadu Buhari pledged to help 100 million Nigerians escape poverty, a goal he was unable to accomplish.
