The Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and Israel’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Sharren Miriam Haskel-Harpaz, held a high-level political dialogue that aims at strengthening the strategic partnership between Nigeria and Israel.
Nigeria and Israel have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation in security, counter-terrorism, economic development, and technology. This was underscored during a high-level political dialogue held in Abuja, Nigeria, on August 11, 2025.
The technical session, co-chaired by Ambassador Janet Olisa, Director (Regions) at Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Sharon Bar-Li, Deputy Director General and Head of the Africa Division at Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted areas of cooperation and collaboration, including technology, innovation for border management, agriculture, tourism, culture, immigration, and consular matters.
Both countries emphasized the need for stronger collaboration in counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, and joint training to combat terrorism financing. They agreed that security and terrorism are global concerns requiring collective action.
The two nations expressed mutual interest in cooperating on technology, innovation for border management, capacity building, culture, tourism, agriculture, and immigration matters.
Nigeria and Israel pledged to maintain constant dialogue and strengthen their bilateral relationship, with plans for exchange study tours to enhance capacity building and cooperation.
The meeting, described as comprehensive and productive, reflected the enduring and strategic partnership between Nigeria and Israel.
Both countries emphasized the need for solidarity on critical global issues and pledged to work together more closely.
